Incidence and Survival of Colorectal Liver Metastases

Aim

To improve understanding and survival of colorectal liver metastases.

Study design

A series of cohort studies.

About the project

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the 3rd most common cancer in the Western world with more than 5,500 new individuals affected each year in Denmark alone. Around 25-40% of all patients with CRC will develop liver metastases (colorectal liver metastases; CRLM), which is the most common cause of death in patients with CRC. The burden of CRC and CRLM on healthcare systems worldwide is increasing, and it is therefore important that we improve our understanding of this disease in order to improve our survival. In this PhD project, we will conduct three population-based cohort studies on CRLM using Danish and healthcare registries.
