Profile

I am an Associate Professor at the Center of Functionally Integrative Neuroscience (CFIN), Aarhus University. My research uses brain imaging to investigate disease processes and identify biomarkers in neurological disorders, with a particular focus on neurodegenerative diseases and the cerebral microvasculature.

Research

I develop and apply quantitative MRI and PET methods to study cerebral perfusion, microvascular function and brain tissue changes. By combining advanced image acquisition and analysis with clinical data, my research aims to improve our understanding of disease mechanisms and identify imaging biomarkers that can support diagnosis and monitoring.

Teaching activities

I teach medical image analysis in the MSc programme in Biomedical Engineering and contribute to several PhD courses and Aarhus University’s Summer University course in Integrative Neuroimaging. I have also been involved in teaching at the Sino-Danish Center for Education and Research. My supervision includes postdoctoral researchers and bachelor’s, master’s and PhD students, including students from engineering and medicine. I also occasionally participate in the assessment of PhD theses.

Collaborations

My research brings together neuroimaging, clinical neuroscience and basic research. I collaborate nationally and internationally with clinicians, neuroscientists and imaging researchers to develop and apply MRI and PET methods to questions in brain health and disease. Collaborations with neurology and nuclear medicine are particularly important for connecting imaging methods with clinically relevant research questions.

Job responsibilities

My responsibilities include conducting and coordinating research, teaching medical image analysis and supervising students and early-career researchers. I collaborate with clinical and basic researchers to develop and apply neuroimaging methods in studies of brain health and disease.
