Troels Staehelin Jensen

I am professor of Neurology and Experimental and clinical pain Research at AU. I was founder and head of Danish Pain Research Center at AU and recently director of the International Diabetic Neuropathy Consortium at AU. I am studying neuropathic pain its causes and  pathophysiology. Currently I am heading a research group of Danish, English and Greenlandic scientists on diabetic neuropathy in Greenland. 

More than 40 years experience as clinical scientist in neurology with a specific expertise on injuries and diseases afffecting the nervous system. The focus has been on the etiology of neuropathic pain, the clinical characteristics, diagnosis and mangement of neuropathic pain. The last 10-15 years the interest has been directed towards diabetic neuropathy and the pain associated with diabetes. Currently the research is centered around diabetic neuropathy and pain in Greenland

For several years had pregraduate and postgraduate teaching courses in clinical neurology. I have had teaching courses about pain particularly neuropathic pain. The teaching has included seminars, workshops, seminars, invited lectures held both nationally and internationally at universities and cogresses. Has written textbooks and chapters in textbooks about neurological disordrs and pain. Has been supervissor for post-docs, phd , Msc and BSc students. Currently writes for Lex.dk

Has had multiple collaboration with sientists in Denmark (e.g. AU, KU, SDU) and abroad (e.g US, UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain but also with colleagues in SouthEast-Asia. Previously collaboration with commercial companies. In the last 10 years as part of the international Diabetic Neuropathy Consortium at AU collaboration with scientists at University of Michigan, US University of Oxford UK,  AU and SDU. Currently collaboration  with KU,  Steno Copenhagen,  Steno Aarhus and Steno Greenland 

Participated in varies foundations and Board in DK (e.g. Chair of the postgraduate Education in Neurology in DK), member of Danish Medical Rsearch Council, Member of the Danish Medical Legal Committee for 16 years): Internationally: member  of various committees and boards (e.g. member and President for Scandinavian Association for the Study of Pain, and The International Association for the Study of pain; IASP liaison for South-East Asia)

My current work involves studying diabetic neuropathy and pain in Greenland.
