Profile

I took up the position as Head of the Department of Clinical Medicine on May 1, 2026. The department is Denmark’s largest clinical medical department and maintains close and integrated collaboration with Aarhus University Hospital and the regional hospitals in the Central Denmark Region.

The collaboration with the region’s hospitals is a cornerstone of the department’s activities, and I look forward to further developing it together with staff, managers, and partners across the university and hospital sector.

My ambition is to strengthen the department’s position as one of the leading institutions in the field. This requires that we create strong conditions for clinical research and research-based education, provide opportunities for talent development, and ensure that our employees thrive.

Research

I come from a position as a Professor at the Department of Clinical Epidemiology, where the epidemiology of kidney diseases was my primary focus. Over many years, I have worked with national health registries and clinical data to understand how these diseases develop and how they can be prevented. I have supported researchers and clinicians in the use of health data through my role as a consultant physician and as head of the Central Denmark Region’s data support center, CONNECT, from 2020 to 2026.

Job responsibilities

  • Head of the Department of Clinical Medicine at Aarhus University since May 2026.
  • Professor of kidney disease epidemiology at the Department of Clinical Medicine since 2022.
  • Graduated in medicine in 2005 and awarded a PhD in Medicine (Clinical Epidemiology) in 2012.
