Martin Roest Christensen

Since 2019 I have been employed at the Department of Forensic Medicine, Aarhus University and became a certified Forensic Pathologist in 2022. I have previously worked at the Department of Forensic Medicine, University of Copenhagen, from where I earned my PhD in 2018.

My research is primarily aimed at forensic neuropathology focusing on traumatic injuries in the brain including blast injuries coupled with CT/MRI scans and histopathologic examinations of the brain tissue.

I am a medical doctor of the reserve of the Danish Armed Forces Medical Corps. I act as a consultant in matters related to Forensic Medicine within the Danish Armed Forces. The topics covered in this context includes mortuary affairs, blast injuries and counseling in general.

In my daily work I perform autopsies to determine cause and manner of death as well as examinations of the living in cases of violence and/or sexual assault in order to document injuries and collect DNA evidence.

A special area of interest is forensic neuropathology, that is trauma-based injuries of the brain.
