I am Professor of Cardiovascular Epidemiology and Trials. The common denominator of my work is the use of nationwide health registries for both observational research and registry-supported randomised trials. Denmark has a unique research infrastructure with national registries and a personal identification number system that enables individual-level data linkage and long-term follow-up. This provides distinctive opportunities to evaluate treatment effects and disease trajectories in routine clinical practice. The aim of my research is to strengthen the evidence base for the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular disease, with the goal of improving the effectiveness and safety of patient care.
