Research

I have been researching cellular and molecular mechanisms that result in neuropathic pain (nerve pain). By uncovering the underlying causes, the goal is to create the basis for developing a targeted treatment method. Current treatment methods often only alleviate symptoms and have extensive side effects.

Teaching activities

I conduct training sessions and workshops for researchers on the proper use of instruments for visualization of biological processes (bioimaging). Previously, I have taught molecular principles and medical biochemistry for medical students and developed teaching materials for theoretical exercises. I am also a mentor for bachelor, master and PhD students.

Collaborations

In connection with my research, I have collaborated closely with private pharmaceutical companies such as Lundbeck A/S and Hoba Therapeutics, departments at Aarhus University Hospital, departments at the University of Copenhagen and international research groups.

Consultancy

Based on my research and extensive hands-on experience, I advise on studies of mouse behavior primarily after microsurgery in the peripheral nervous system, sometimes in combination with drug testing. I also translate complex scientific topics from technical language to ordinary Danish.
