New centre for research in Parkinson's disease
The Lundbeck Foundation grants DKK 313 million for a Parkinson's disease research centre situated in Aarhus.
The Lundbeck Foundation has awarded DKK 313 million for a 10-year period, to establish PACE - the Lundbeck Foundation Parkinson's Disease Research Center in Aarhus.
This groundbreaking initiative aims to develop treatments that can slow or even halt the progression of Parkinson's disease and related Lewy Body Disorders.
Professor Per Borghammer will be director of the centre, and PACE will unite top Danish and international researchers across disciplines from molecular biology to clinical trials and epidemiology. The collaborative environment is designed to accelerate discoveries and ensure that scientific breakthroughs will quickly benefit patients.
PACE will be part of Department of Clinical Medicine at Aarhus University and of Aarhus University Hospital. The centre is expected to employ around 70 researchers, students and administrative staff, creating a world-class community for innovation, scientific progress and improved care in Parkinson's disease.
