The structural heart research team at Aarhus University Hospital and Aarhus University covers experimental and clinical research within all areas of structural heart disease. Particular expertise lies within diagnosis, imaging and interventions in relation to atrial fibrillation, cardio-embolic stroke, heart valve disease, acute pulmonary embolism and elevated blood pressure in the lungs.
Our goal is to provide patients with evidence-based quality care, with a continuous focus on developing, improving and implementing innovative new techniques and devices to help patients with structural heart disease. We are invested in multiple preclinical and clinical studies on diagnostic modalities and interventions, with the aim to better understand the natural history and clinical outcome of various structural heart diseases.
The group is nationally and internationally recognized for our research, particularly within left atrial appendage occlusion and treatment for acute pulmonary embolism.
We are a dynamic team of researchers including study nurses, master students, medical students, Ph.D. students and post-docs to clinicians and established researchers embracing various healthcare professions and research methods. We provide an excellent research environment, with a wide international collaborative network and we continuously aim to establish new collaborators and projects within structural heart disease.
