About us

Who we are

Our aim is to bridge fundamental neuroscience with clinical applications to catalyze groundbreaking contributions to human health.

As a cutting-edge neuroscience lab, we are committed to pioneering new therapies and diagnostic techniques for a range of neurological diseases. We specialize in the use of state-of-the-art neuroscience methodologies, setting us apart as a leading research biobank in Denmark and around the world.

Our biobank serves as an indispensable resource, procuring, preserving, and supplying high-quality, living and preserved human brain samples. By making these samples readily accessible to leading neuroscience and oncology labs, we aim to accelerate the pace of key scientific discoveries and facilitate the shift from animal models to human-based research.

Embedded in the rich neuroscience ecosystem of Aarhus University, we play a crucial role in elevating the neuroscience landscape both locally and internationally. Through focused studies on the living human cortex, we aspire to advance therapeutic interventions for a wide range of neurological and psychiatric disorders, including epilepsy, stroke, Parkinson's disease, and brain cancer. In doing so, we stand to make a lasting impact on millions of lives worldwide.

As a central key facility within the Danish Neuroscience Center at Aarhus University Hospital, we are steadfast in our commitment to open science, active collaboration, and resource-sharing, thereby enhancing the collective pursuit of knowledge and solutions in neuroscience.
