The animal kingdom is vast and astonishing. While a few model species (e.g. fruit fly, zebrafish, mouse, rat, pig, human, etc.) have been examined in great detail, there exists thousands of animal species that we know surprisingly little about. By applying modern medical imaging modalities (CT, MRI, US, PET, etc.) we seek to expand current knowledge in zoological morphology and inspire others to apply the August Krogh Principle: “For a large number of problems there will be some animal of choice, or a few such animals, on which it can be most conveniently studied”.
