The Clinical Research Unit for Pediatric and Adolescent Cancer was established in June 2021 as part of a strategy to continuingly ensure the patients’ participation in clinical studies and treatment protocols, which is the golden standard treatment based on international research studies.
Therefore, the overall purpose of The Clinical Research Unit is to ensure that the patients are offered the opportunity to participate in the clinical studies that DAPHO (Dansk Pædiatrisk Hæmatologi Onkologi) has decided to open in Denmark.
Another important task for The Clinical Research Unit is to organize and support the increasing research activity at The Centre for Pediatric and Adolescent Cancer at Aarhus University Hospital. The Clinical Research Unit is hence functioning as a support unit for all the professionals, who take part in treating the patients in the many clinical research studies at The Centre for Pediatric and Adolescent Cancer.
Thus, The Clinical Research Unit both operates with disease-specific treatment protocols as well as clinical studies initiated by researchers at Aarhus University Hospital or by external partners.
