Research

Department of Clinical Medicine is a brickless organiation conducting both basic health science research and clinical research within all medical specialities in collaboration with Aarhus University Hospital and the regional hospitals in Central Denmark Region.

Our research activities are conducted in collaboration with internationally renowned researchers in both Denmark and abroad.

We have excellent and attractive research facilities among them:

  • Six advanced operation rooms for surgery on pigs, rabbits, rats and mice
  • Good animal facilites for small and large animals
  • Many experimental laboratory facilities at Aarhus University and Aarhus University Hospital
  • Advanced PET, PEC-CT, CT and MR-scanners at Danish Neuroscience Centre

Department of Clinical Medicine also participates in joint research programmes with Aarhus University Hospital for staff with medium-cycle higher educations with the following headlines: The acute patient, Communication and ethics, Patient involvement and Rehabilitation. 

Strong collaboration

An agreement from 1 January 2012 has increased the collaboration between Aarhus University, including Department of Clinical Medicine, and the health sector in Central Denmark Region. This means that Department of Clinical Medicine is now responsible for not only research at Aarhus University Hospital but also activities at the other hospitals in Central Denmark Region.

To ensure a clear and efficient link between research and clinical activities, Central Denmark Region and Aarhus University have a close collaboration on all management levels as illustrated below:
